12:00 p.m. - 1:30 p.m. Class

LOCATION:

October 31, 2014 - Baton Rouge
TTEC Bldg (Rm 175), 4099 Gourrier Ave

About the Webinar:

The Human Factors Guide, known as the HFG, was published in December 2012 as NCHRP Report 600.

The webinar will provide a short description of how the HFG was developed, organized, and used for enhancing road users' highway safety. The HFG was successfully pilot-tested in five state DOT's during 2013 and those results will be described. A short snapshot will be presented of the new Federal Highway Administration human factors training course which is expected to be available in 2015. The HFG is a central part of the new FHWA course.

The HFG is used primarily by highway planners, designers, and traffic engineers in assessing the road user safety in new projects, upgrade of projects, and road safety audits. How the HFG and the AASHTO Highway Safety Manual can be used together in finding the best crash estimates of existing and planned projects will be briefly discussed.

A short discussion will describe the next steps for the HFG.
