Stormwater has been an important issue for planners, developers, and municipalities, as well as State and Federal governments for many years. Regulations and laws have been implemented to reduce the impacts associated with stormwater runoff throughout the United States. However, much of the available training moves directly to the technical aspects of addressing runoff and often glosses over many of the critical stormwater issues. These items are critical to the understanding of what factors influence runoff and how available practices address the issues associated with stormwater runoff. This webinar, offered by the Local & Tribal Technical Assistance Program (LTAP/TTAP), will look at stormwater with a cause and effect approach, identifying the contributing factors, and discussing available options to mitigate the negative effects of runoff on both an operational and planning level.

Topics covered will include:

  • Critical Components of Stormwater Runoff
  • The Importance of the Watershed
  • History of Regulations and Regulatory Authorities
  • Operational Management
    • Erosion and Sediment Control
    • Runoff Reduction
    • Soil Stabilization
  • Management and Planning
