WORK ZONE TRAFFIC CONTROL for LOCAL and LOW VOLUME ROADS & MUTCD PARTS 1, 5 & 6

About the Course
Roadways open to public travel within Louisiana, whether maintained by the State, Parish, or local municipality SHALL follow the guidelines set forth in the Manual Uniform Traffic Control Devices. This workshop is designed for Crew leaders, Foremen, and Supervisors who are responsible for the selection and placement of temporary traffic control devices used during road work. Each participant will receive a 2009 MUTCD Parts 1, 5, and 6 that covers the following:
PART 1—General Principals and Purpose of Traffic Control Devices: Placement and Operation of, Maintenance of, Uniformity of, and Responsibility for Traffic Control Devices and the Authority for placement of those devices will be outlined.
PART 5—Traffic Control Devices for Low Volume Roads: After classification of what is and is not considered low volume the Function, Application, Design and Placement of traffic control devices will be reviewed.
PART 6—TEMPORARY TRAFFIC CONTROL: Fundamental Principals, plans for and components of Temporary Traffic Control (TTC) Work Zones will be outlined. Pedestrian and Worker safety will be discussed. Flagger procedures, TTC Signs, and Channelizing Devices will be demonstrated. Type of TTC Activities and Typical Applications will be reviewed. Attendees input for local activities will be analyzed.
