Travelling to New Orleans
The Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport is located in Kenner, approximately 15 miles west of downtown. The conference will provide airport transportation for delegates staying at the conference hotel beginning Saturday, August 23 and ending Wednesday, August 27.
Transportation Services:
If you are in need of transportation to and from the airport, please update your registration to include all flight information as soon as possible. We cannot guarantee that we will be able to provide your transportation to/from the airport without this information. The conference will be providing airport transportation for delegates staying at the conference hotel beginning on Saturday, August 23rd and ending on Wednesday, August 27th. For those needing transportation from the airport to the Sheraton, SASHTO conference staff will be stationed at the baggage claim area to direct you to the Transportation Center, where the shuttle bus will be located. The Transportation Center is located across the street from Baggage Claim Area #8. If at any time during the conference you have questions regarding the transportation services, feel free to stop by the transportation desk on the 3rd floor of the Sheraton across from the Napoleon Ballroom or call Chris Morvant at (504) 453-1355.
New Orleans shuttle buses, taxis, limos, and public transportation buses run from the downtown and French Quarter areas to the airport regularly. For airline information, see here. Resources for rental cars are also available here.
Taxi rates from the airport are $33.00 for 1 or 2 passengers and $14.00 per passenger for 3 people and up. For more information, see here. The French Quarter is approximately 20 minutes from the airport.
For general tips on parking in New Orleans, see here. The Sheraton does provide valet parking service for guests; vehicles are secured in a covered garage adjacent to the hotel. Due to limited space and height restrictions, parking is available on a first-come, first-served basis (oversized vehicles cannot be accommodated.) Overnight guest rate is $38 + tax.
