The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development, in conjunction with Southeastern Association of State Highway Transportation Officials, awards $1,000 scholarships to undergraduate students in Louisiana universities for students with a declared major in engineering at the junior or senior level. The applicant must be in good standing academically and demonstrate a professed interest in the transportation field as a vocation.
SPECIAL NOTE: Students who have previously been awarded a DOTD SASHTO scholarship are no longer eligible to apply.
Applications will not be considered complete until all steps are complete by the deadline of October 31, 2024.
Those steps are:
- Complete the form linked on this page, which includes uploading your essay (one page maximum) describing a challenge or opportunity to improve something in the field of transportation and how you would use your engineering education to address that challenge in the future. INCLUDE APPLICANT NAME IN THE TOP RIGHT CORNER OF YOUR ESSAY UPLOAD.
- Request an official e-transcript from your university to be sent to sheri.hughes@la.gov.
